At the quarter final stage - which had Saheed Osupa, Malaika, Latin - did not disappoint as thousands of fans stormed the Ijamido town hall Ota for the showdown where the battle for the Wura 1 crown and a handsome cash reward are at stake.
15 of the 30 contestants that made it to this stage grabbed the semi final ticket that will shut down Ilesa on Friday. In addition to the Fuji musicians, Baba Tee, a notable comedian, is also billed to perform in the star studded event while Odunlade, Sanyeria are also expected to heat up the stage.
Ejire Performer, Akeem Okiki, Wole Anobi, Saheed Ishola, Adebola Muhammed, Ajape Wahab, Idris Aloma, Adeniyi Ibrahim, Ogede Azeez, Opeyemi, Olaleye Ojo, Musbau Ayinde, Ibrahim Akanbi and Wole Alabi were among the contestants that won the marks of the judges at the tension soak quarter final performances. The event is expected to provide lasting connection moment for fans, supporters and the entire people of Ilesa.
Olaniyi Afonja, a yoruba movie actor, and also a judge on the show, stated that the task is becoming tougher for the judges as the contestants have not only matured, but coming up with different twist to their act on stage.
He further revealed that the semi final will not be business as usual as the contest has gotten to the stage where someone that will emerge as the winner must be more that the best on stage.
Another judge, Alhaji Sikiru Agboola, a veteran in the industry, said that, the Goldberg Fuji T’o Bam consumer engagement platform which “over past editions has created credibility and fairness for all contestants is the first Fuji music talent hunt in the history of Fuji music in Nigeria. It gladdens my heart that it is further setting the bar which every other brand must fight to meet.”
He said, the contest has moved to a stage where the lucky contestants would enjoy mentoring and career direction tutors as well as meeting with other notable elders that will help shape their minds and careers.
It would be recalled that, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, the Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc had explained during the kickoff of the competition that it will take place across key cities in South West Nigeria with notable Yoruba actors, like Sanyeri, KamiluKompo, Mr. Latin and OdunladeAdekola gracing the event from the quarter final to the grand finale stages.
Ilesha in Osun State will host the semi-final, while the grand finale which will hold in Ibadan is expected to be an exciting life changing experience for the finalists and fans.
Mr. Ekanem noted that Fuji music enjoys huge followership, especially in the south Western part of Nigeria, which has led the brand to create the platform “to connect and engage target consumers.” The music genre, he pointed out, thus provides a credible platform for the brand to get closer to them and share their interest and culture.
Fuji T’o Bam is an indigenous music activation platform of Goldberg which has in the last two editions led to the discovery of budding Fuji talents
