Today we bring you the concluding part of the talk-of-the town traditional wedding ceremony of Barrister Kayode Sofidiya, second son of Lagos business woman and hotelier, Chief (Mrs.) Alake Olurotimi Adejonwo Oshun, the Otunba Boroji of Egbeda Land and Iyalaje of Aiyede Ekiti in Ekiti state, South West Nigeria.

Speaking to Asabeafrika at the venue of the traditional marriage, the groom Barrister Kayode Sofidiya expressed his joy and gratefulness to God for making it possible for him to marry Olarike Olaiya who is first niece of Nollywood Actress, Moji Olaiya “I feel so good, I am delighted I am getting married to my wife. I married her because she is pretty and down to earth, she is a complete woman and I am very happy to be married to her. As you can see, she is from a well mannered and well respected home and I didn’t expected anything less than that”; on what his favorite meal is and if his Olarike can actually cook it, Kayode replied with a dashing smile “My favorite meal is pounded yam and Egusi soup and I will tell you that my wife can cook it very well, I can tell you that is not a challenge for her”. So, how did both meet?  “We met here in Nigeria and the chemistry just connected and today we are one”. The groom gave us his brief resume “My name is Kayode Sofidiya from Ogun state, Abeoukuta. I am an hotelier by profession but I read law in school. Marriage to me is like an adventure, I have not really been in one before. So, I am looking forward to it and I believe it is going to be peaceful in Jesus name”. Kayode ended the interview with enthusiasm written all over his face

By 1pm when all guests returned back to Jonshland Castle and Royal Suites for the after wedding reception, it was certain to all that the party was a big one as the interior of the hall and the array of food vendors at the beck and call of the organizers spoke volume of the hospitality at play by the Oshuns. On the band stand was Glo ambassador, Mrs. Abiola Atanda aka Madam Kofo. Madam Kofo who flew in from Houston Texas in the United States of America to honor Alake Oshun was at her best. She was ably supported by the 15 man Faith Music Band

Lagos Textile Merchants storm Event
The event which started on a gradual level at 1:30pm soon snowballed into a bigger party as numerous Lagos Lady Textile merchants dressed down for Alake Oshun as they stormed the event in the yellow Aso-Ebi Uniform for the event. This group of Lagos textile merchants cut across various markets from Lagos Island down to Oshodi and Ikeja.  Prominent among this group of busy women is what is known as The Royal Executive Club made up of Alhaja Kike Odutayo, Erelu Aderonke Ijale, Alhaja Ejide Bolade Hassan, Alhaja Azizat Olukoga, Sister Serah Balogun alias Sidi-Ewe, Alhaja Titi Alabi, Alhaja Ranti Oluwe, Alhaja Titi Ahmed, Sister Ranti Ademola Alao, Alhaja Tawa Anibaba, Alhaja Amina Folawiyo, Alhaja Monsurat Faronbi, Alhaja Sherifat Dada, Alhaja Kike Adeyemi, Alhaja Kudirat Ajetumobi and Alhaja Monsurat Mafe. This elegant group of Lagos business women took over the hall and gave the event a Lagos color.

Call him a master strategist and you won’t be wrong, this Lagos top estate developer and husband of the indomitable business woman and Otunba Boroji of Egbeda Land/Iyalaje of Ayede-Ekiti, Otunba Fatai Rotimi Oshun took over the reception party of his step son as he moved around to ensure friends and well wishers from both the bride and the groom families were well catered for. The Chairman/CEO of CIV Built Nigeria Ltd, a leading estate development firm in Lagos was the cynosure of all eyes as he moved with his very beautiful wife, Alake inspecting guests and making sure everything was in top mood for all.  Both the Otunba and the Otunba Boroji were all stand through out the event.

Lagos state Deputy Governor is mother of the day
Lagos state Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Adejoke Orelope Adefulire was the mother of the day.  But due to urgent state matters, the Lagos state Deputy Governor who is said to be a very close friend to Chief (Mrs.) Alake Osun sent in one of her senior special assistants, Chief (Mrs.) Risikat Akiode who is also a former Permanent Secretary in charge of Lagos state ministry of Water Corporation. The very distinguished lady who represented her boss very well later conducted the cutting of the wedding cake at the reception. She was joined by the royal father of the day HRM, Oba (Alhaji) Adebayo Orisagbemi the Attah of Aiyede Ekiti.

One very powerful woman who also stormed the high society wedding of the Oshuns is the Iyaloja of Oshodi land, Alhaja Mujidat Alebiosu. This very powerful market leader led a lot of her executives to the event. She was there for four good hours showing love to her friend, Alake Oshun. Alhaja Alebiosu is one of the prominent market leaders in Lagos state.

How SAI BUHARI slang took over the venue
The event also turned into a big gathering of All Progressive Congress enthusiasts as they took over the entire event with the Sai Buhari Sai Baba slang renting the air. The reason was not far fetched; many of the APC women leaders were in the house, starting with APC Woman leader in Lagos Mrs. Iyabo Akerele and Chief Mrs. Basirat Olayinka Ojugbele, the APC Women leader in Ojokoro area of Lagos and many of the market women leaders who are equally passionate about the ruling party in Lagos. It was almost like the official slang at the event as Madam Kofo and many others in the house chanted the APC slogan which received a loud reception from the crowd of guests.

Don’t forget that Bride’s aunty is famous Nollywood queen Moji Olaiya and she showed how powerful and influential she was by dragging few of her colleagues to the event. Some of the notable Nollywood faces at the event are Foluke Daramola who stormed the event with her handsome husband, Kayode Salako. Others are Actor/Producer, Lasun Ray Eyiwunmi, Moji Ojonla and many others. Moji Olaiya later spoke to the gathering of celebrities on the war on piracy, begging the crowd of guests not to encourage pirated copies by buying them. Lasun Ray also spoke to the crowd of guest on the same issue; both artistes thanked Nigerians for patronizing their works.

Chief (Mrs.) Risikat Amori Odumosu CEO, Ritz Fashion who is the best friend of Princess Rose Osipitan, CEO, First Royal Oil and Gas, stormed the party. She stormed the event in her gorgeous self and all eyes went in her direction. Amori Odumosu is the Iyaloja of gutter Market in Lagos Island.

Another very influential woman was textile merchant, Mrs. Bisi Kuye. She was one of the powerful women who elevated the status of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) to all time popularity at the event.

She is the first daughter of late Ikorodu born Apala music sage, Alhaji Nasiru Atuwon. This very beautiful Ikorodu born female socialite Alhaja Silifat Atuwon was the cynosure of all eyes at the event.  Her table was very near the special table and a lot of female socialites went to pay homage to her.

Like we earlier informed you that bride’s mother is an educationist, members of staff of Princess Funmilayo Olaiya Kuti’s school Home Economic Center and Handy Craft center, Gbagada were in the house. The nicely dressed women who all wore blue attires were led by Mrs. Adebayo and Mrs. Babatunde. They had their table at a strategic part of the hall.

Pastor Joe Agboighale and wife, Mrs. Mojisola Agboighale of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Maranatha Parish, Gbagada, Lagos stormed the event with top members of his church. That is bride’s parent’s church. This gifted clergy was equally the one who did the opening prayer at the reception.

If there was one thing that dotted the occasion apart from the crowd of guests from all walks of life, it was the availability of choice wines, drinks and water. Talking about food, it was over served as many guests had more than enough to eat and drink. The organizers of the event ensued that all the over 150 tables in the hall were properly served with both amala, rice, yam porridge, pounded yam, tuwo, salad (With Assorted meat, snail and fish)and many assorted drinks of various brands. Later in the evening small chops were again supplied in dozen plates to every one both inside and outside the hall. There was no classification of guests when it came to serving of meals.

When he arrived in the late hour of the evening, all attention immediately shifted to him as he took the stage with the couple. He is said to be a very old friend of the groom Barrister Kayode Sofidiya. He is His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Sejiro Olalekan Ogungbe James (JP) the Aholu Henwa of Kweme Kingdom in Badagry, Lagos. Decked in all white regalia with his paraphernalia of office, the Aholu Henwa of Kweme Kingdom dazzled guests at the party and also add color to the event. He was one of the last VIPs who stormed the wedding bash of Mr. and Mrs. Kayode Sofidiya. The Aholu Henwa of Kweme Kingdom in Badagry is equally the youngest traditional ruler in Lagos and has occupied the position in the last 7 years.
