It is often said that there are three major days in a man’s life-the day he is born, the day he gets married and then, the day he bids earth goodbye. But the truth remains that there are several other equally important days in a man’s life that all add up to a life worth living-among which would be the day children are born to him as well as the day he records some academic achievements.
Also, his first big-break in life and several big breaks afterwards are undoubtedly significant and then there are those milestone birthday anniversaries that remind us all of just how far we have come in life, how much we have achieved and how grateful we should be for all that providence has blessed us with.

It was one of such day of tremendous significance, pure joy, immense gratitude, unreserved thanksgiving and of delightful reflection on the goodness of God that unfolded when one of Nigeria’s and indeed Africa’s entrepreneurial icons, enduring billionaire businessman, Chief Bode Akindele, popularly known by his traditional title of Parakoyi of Ibadanland clocked 80. Chief Akindele who owns Modandola Investments Limited with a strong foothold in Real Estate and Property Development also has business interests that span the Maritime and Manufacturing sector spread all across the globe.

The Parakoyi relished the special occasion with loved ones in the city of Ibadan—his home town. On the day of his celebration, virtually all roads leading to his part of town where the celebrations unfolded, were on lock  down as friends, associates, admirers, well-wishers and loved ones of the magnate set out in their numbers from various parts of the country and the world to keep a date with the celebrant and give him a truly memorable day.

The Church
The Methodist Church Cathedral, Ibadan where the Chief holds the esteemed title of “Baba Ijo” was more than a fitting venue for a glorious thanksgiving service to celebrate the awesome wonders of God in his life, family and business. Officiated by the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese, Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Michael Kehinde Stephen, the joy-filled service witnessed a lot of singing, dancing and prayers for the continued prosperity and well-being of the celebrant and his family members.
Archbishop Stephen was full of praise for Chief Akindele, calling him a committed Christian who has continued to serve God with all his strenght, leaving enviable legacies for others to follow.

The celebrant who is renowned for his legendary generosity to the less privileged was in his characteristic generous spirit when he presented goodwill gifts to the Church stating gladly, “It is my pleasure on this joyful occasion of my 80th birthday thanksgiving service to present to God and this congregation the following items of God and this congregation the following items of need for this Cathedral: Air-conditioning systems, padding for the Pews and an Organ”.
“It is my joy and hope that the difference these gifts will make, will further enhance the quality of worship and make this Cathedral a wonderful shelter for those seeking the face of God” he added after which the Church Ministers, with conspicuous gratitude  showered prayers and blessings upon the celebrant.
