2 Police Commissioners storm Baba’s funeral
It is an understatement to say that security was very tight at Baba Sodimu’s funeral reception as two serving commissioners of Police attended in full force. On seat was the immediate past Lagos state commissioner of Police Kayode Aderanti who was still serving in Lagos at the time. The very handsome and highly gifted police chief was one of the guests who came early with a group of Police top brasses from his command. Adorning white attire, Kayode Aderanti sat at the party for two hours before he left around 5pm in the evening. The then serving Ogun state commissioner of Police Ikemefuna Okoye was also on seat briefly as both officers are said to be very close to Engineer John Oladipo Ayodele, Quincy’s husband.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s wife, Madam Bola Obasanjo stormed the event in full gear. She was the cynosure of all eyes at the event as she represented her husband, Baba Iyabo for good three hours. She really gave the Ayodeles and Sodimus her time and substance as she mourned and equally celebrated with them. Another very beautiful lady who stormed the event from the Enu Owa Royal Palace, Ile-Ife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade (Olubuse II) is one of the Ooni’s most beautiful, paramount and highly celebrated Oloris, Olori Ladun Sijuade, who attended the event with her beautiful daughter Derenle Fayose. Both Olori Ladun’s table and Madam Bola Obasanjo’s table were beehives of activities as guests kept paying homage to the two great women who are wives to two great figures in Yoruba land.

“Dad taught us that simplicity cost nothing but buys everything; two, that we should love everybody irrespective of age, creed, gender or anything, love everybody. Number 3, life is too short to be miserable”. “I miss his wise sayings, he speaks to everybody; he talks good. He will never say anything evil; he will never fight. You can’t hear any violent word from him”

The Event Planner and Ooni of Ife HRM, Oba Okunade's daughter, Princess Adenrele Sijuade-Fayose, MD & CEO Ruby Fay Events

How Ooni of Ife’s daughter planned event
It is quite unbelievable that such an event like Pa Sodimu’s funeral will wear such a huge royalty on both sides. For real it was one of Ooni of Ife’s daughters and first daughter of the Ooni’s most paramount wife, Olori Ladun Sijuade, Princess Adenrele Fayose who planned the event. Her Ruby Fay Events Planning and Management Company planned the event. Princess Aderenle Fayose rumored to be married to one of Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose’s brothers is an IT and Business Management Degree Holder from Sir John Cass Business School, London but decided to turn her passion which is event planning into a business. Very down to earth and with no airs of arrogance Princess Adenrele was seeing moving from one part of the hall to another part ensuring that people were well catered for either in areas of drinks or food or seating arrangement. For starters, this is not Princess Adenrele’s first big event in Nigeria. Apart from organizing palace parties and events as a young princess in her father’s palace, Princess Aderenle Fayose is the lady behind big events like her late grand mother Chief (Mrs.) F.O. Harold Shodipo’s funeral, Owu Billionaire Aare (Dr.) Bolu Akin Olugbade’s mother-in-law’s funeral; Dr. (Mrs.) Awolowo Dosunmu’s daughter’s engagement and wedding party and famous lawyer Tunji Braithwaite’s mother’s one year memorial to mention a few.  Her uncle Banjo Shodipo was equally at the event.

A couple at the event

Ex-Guinness MD attended
Another top shot at the event is Otunba Seni Adetu, the immediate past MD/CEO of Guinness PLC. He is said to be a close family friend of the Ayodeles. Otunba Seni Adetu is an Otunba of Remo Land in Ogun state.

She stormed the event with her clique of friends who all adorned the Aso-Ebi. Princess Lola Agbalajobi wife of late Lagos politician of SDP stock, Femi Agbalajobi was also in the house with her clique of friends. Another very important woman in the house that was highly respected in the gathering was Princess Tola Akinsehinwa, wife of late General Murithala Mohammed’s ADC that was killed along with him in the February 13th 1976 SB Dimka coup, Colonel Taiwo Akinsehinwa. Chief (Mrs.) Moji Dokpesi

Why Moji Dokpesi broke social holiday for Quincy
In the last couple of years, celebrity woman and wife of DAAR Communications PLC Chairman (Owners of Raypower & AIT) High Chief Dr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, Moji Dokpesi has been so scarce in the social scene but she broke her holiday on June 20 as she stormed late Pa Sodimu’s Reception in full honors. This very charming madam and elder sister to Otunba Dayo Adeneye’s partner, Kenny Ogungbe did not only danced her heart out at the event but equally shared gift items for guests at the event as she was overwhelmed with joy. Asabeafrika later scooped that Mrs. Moji Dokpesi and Dr. (Mrs.) Quincy Ayodele both belong to the same Wisdom Group of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish. In fact, another source squealed to this blog that Mrs. Dokpesi is the treasurer of the group while Dr. Quincy is a prime member.

He is rumored to be the one who took over leadership of the RCCG, Apapa family after Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo left for Abuja. With him came another Pastor, Pastor Tunde Oyeniyi whom Madam Kofo who is a Muslim publicly claimed is her Facebook Prayer friend.

On one hand was American born Engineer Trevor Keeney who married Quincy’s first daughter and Oil baron Prince Adekunle Abdul CEO, IMEL Oil and Gas who married the American trained second daughter of Quincy. The two gentle men were sighted at both the church and reception at DLK Event Center. Very shy and reserved Prince Abdul and the American born Engineer Trevor Keeney really gave the event a different vibe.

This great civil engineer is the one behind some of the major high rise buildings in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja as his company is said to have the best experts in that area. Despite the fact that he tried to hide his head from publicity we got to know about his presence at the party as he sneaked in and spent a quality time before jetting back to his Abuja base. His name is Engineer Godwin Abayomi aka Godab. A lot of top celebrity ladies paid homage to his table which was not too far from Mrs. Bola Obasanjo and Rear Admiral Jubril Ayinla’s tables

The Olu of Ifo land, Oba (Dr.) Samuel Atanda Oladipupo

Why Alake of Egba Land sent staff, wife & Chiefs to event
Between the Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo (Okukenu IV) and the Jagunmolu of Egba land and elder statesman Chief Olusegun Obasanjo no one could say who is much closer to the late Chief Amos Babalola Oluwole Sodimu. Unconfirmed gist has it that the Oba who is also an alumnus of Baptist Boys High School, Owu just like Pa Sodimu and General Obasanjo is not only a younger buddy of late Pa Sodimu but  also a very close friend of Quincy’s husband, Engineer John Oladipo Ayodele. Nobody knows the chemistry that existed between both Engineer Ayodele and the revered Oba. But for culture which forbades the Alake to attend a funeral, he would have attended the event. However, he did not only send in his royal staff which accompanied Baba’s corpse from home-to-church-back-home and equally attended the reception. Kabiyesi also ensured that all the powerful chiefs in his kingdom attended the reception at DLK Event Center. They are the Balogun of Egba land, Seriki of Egba land, Parakoyi of Egba land, Iyaloja of Egba land and a lot of other top chiefs who had their own table separately at the event. Alake’s wife, Olori Titilola Gbadebo was also at both the church and at the reception.

Iyalojas in Ogun state blocked date for Pa Sodimu
They came from all the major markets in Ogun state. They all came to give salutation to a man who touched their lives in various ways during his life time. They were led to the event by Alhaja Moni Adelekan, the Iyaloja of Igbein market in Abeokuta where Baba, Pa Amos Babalola Oluwole Sodimu (Gbokoniyi) was the Olori Aje (Minister of Commerce) during his life time; they are Iyaloja of Mowe market, Iyaloja of Ibafo market, Iyaloja of Magboro market, Iyaloja of Moko market, Iyaloja of Obaja market and several other markets in Abeokuta. Despite the fact that, June 20 was Kuto Market day which is a highly respected day in Abeokuta, many of these Iyalojas dumped their market activities to pay their last respect to Pa Amos Babalola Oluwole Sodimu.

Veteran broadcaster & Actor, Yemi Sodimu at the event

Saidi Balogun & Yemi Sodimu in the house
His arrival was almost supernatural as he got a rousing attention from guests at the occasion especially ladies. That is Nollywood Actor, Saidi Balogun. He stormed the event very late in the evening and went round to appreciate various dignitaries and fans at the party before settling near Dr. (Mrs.) Quincy Ayodele and hubby’s table. Before his arrival, Oleku star and broadcaster extra-ordinary, Yemi Sodimu arrived. Baba’s 1st son speaks to Asabeafrika
Dr. Babatunde Sodimu (A Surveyor) and late Pa Amos Babalola Oluwole Sodimu’s first son told Asabeafrika some of the few things he is going to miss with Baba’s demise. He started by crediting the occasion “I feel it is a great occasion to celebrate my dad’s life”. He later spoke on three things dad taught him while growing as a kid. Hear him “Dad taught us that simplicity cost nothing but buys everything; two, that we should love everybody irrespective of age, creed, gender or anything, love everybody. Number 3, life is too short to be miserable”. “I miss his wise sayings, he speaks to everybody; he talks good. He will never say anything evil; he will never fight. You can’t hear any violent word from him. A lovely man; I took after him in some of those things (Ideas) he talks about. I am a surveyor and today I am trying to initiate most of them (Dad’s ideas) here in Abeokuta if the Abeokuta population will see that, yes, I am following in my dad’s footstep”.
