The event which was a classy one had the presence of family, friends and well-wishers in attendance. It is not all the time that a son will share a celebration date with his father but for Abimbola Taofeek Ojugbele, dad’s June 16 is also his own date. And for him, it was a double joy as dad was throwing his party with the big wigs at the lower side of the Eko Club, Abimbola who is the CEO of one of Ibadan, Oyo state top Night Clubs, Ebevande on Ring Road, had the upper hall side of the Eko Club to himself with beehives of activities as friends, well-wishers and associates converged to celebrate with the younger Ojugbele who was celebrating his birthday as well. It was a full blast with children of money bags; politicians and others as they had best of choice drinks and sumptuous meals to celebrate a jolly good fellow. Abimbola’s mum is the highly beautiful fourth wife of the real estate guru, Alhaja Tawakalitu Ibitola Ojugbele MD/CEO of Pee Square Textiles, Lagos Island.

Meet Baba’s scions who made things happen at the event
They are some of the prominent sons and grown ups of the celebrant who pulled a cream of big boys to the event; one of them is Sheriff Abimbola Ojugbele, this Lagos big boy who made sure everything worked well at the event works with Lagos State Residential Registration Agency (LASRRA) and he is one of their top officers at the agency. Another one is Honorable Rotimi Ojugbele who is a councilor at Ado-Odo Ota LGA of Ogun state and one of APC’s stalwarts in Ogun. Farouk Ojugbele is into oil and gas while Idowu Ojugbele is an APC Youth Leader in the Akowonjo Area of Lagos state. Kehinde Ojugbele on the other hand deals in Aluminum products at Akowonjo area of Lagos. They all stood by dad to make sure things went so well at the gathering. Baba’s son in-law Prince Olalere Egbewole husband to Alhaja Iyabode Kafayat Egbewole, CEO, Kafyab Textiles  was also all stand through the beginning of the event till the very end making sure guest were served with whatever they asked for in terms of foods and drinks.

How wives made event thick
In this kind of auspicious event, every hands and legs works tirelessly to make things work and ensure success. Despite that they all married same man, the Ojugbele wives worked hand in hand to make sure that their husband’s 80th birthday celebration was a huge success. As others brought foods and drinks some other ones brought take-away gifts which were abundantly given out to the over three thousand guests that stormed the June 16 event. For instance, Alhaja Basirat Ojugbele served assorted meals and equally gave assorted drinks to her group of friends which include politicians, oil barons, textile merchants and general business women. Alhaja Tawakalitu Ibitola Ojugbele, was also seen doing same to her own group of friends.

Why Cake was flown in from London
Not many people knew that the giant cake used to mark Bashorun Ojugbele’s 80th birthday was flown in from the UK that same day via a British Airways Airbus. The cake was said to have been purchased from a famous cake vendor at Central London who is a white friend of the Ojugbele family; a lady family friend, Mrs. Balogun (Iya Lola) who is trusted by Chief Ojugbele was said to have delivered the cake to the venue straight from the airport. It was such a unique cake made with color brown which is the favorite color of the celebrant and cream color with the age of the celebrant inscribed on it.

London big girl Bukola Olutade storm event
Today in the entire United Kingdom, Bukola Olutade is one of the famous registered Nurses of African origin. She is based in the South Eastern Part of the UK and hails from the famous Olutade family of Abeokuta. This very beautiful Nigerian nurse who celebrated her 5oth birthday with pomp and pageantry last November 1st 2014 (Although she clocked 50th on October 31st but moved the party to November 1st) is said to be a close friend of Basorun Lamina Ojugbele’s most influential daughter, Alhaja Iyabode Kafayat Egbewole (Nee Ojugbele). Alhaja Egbewole who also sells head gear textile under her company Kafyab Textiles Ltd at gutter market with her step mother is said to be like five and six with Bukola Olutade and that is why this London big girl dropped everything she was doing in the UK to attend Iyabode’s dad’s birthday. Sources close to the two said Iyabode also attended her 50th birthday in November in the UK and spent a long time with her there.

Lagos big gal Jumoke Jinad’s Hot Spice handled 70% meal
Jumoke Jinad is the CEO of Lagos top catering services Hot Spice. Her outfit catered for 70% of meals served at the event from Amala & Gbegiri/Ewedu to other African delicacies, her servers were there on hand to make things works as every one had more than enough to eat and drink. A very reliable family source said both Jumoke Jinad and Chief Ojugbele’s influential daughter, Alhaja Iyabode Kafayat Egbewole attended same Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta and while Jumoke read accountancy, Iyabode read Marketing. Jumoke’s Hot Spice meal complimented other food vendors that were engaged by Baba’s wives and children. There was more than enough to eat and drink.

The immediate past chairman of Lagos Island Club and Sooko of the Source (Ile-Ife), Prince Ademola Dada led a delegation of eight members to the venue which include immediate past secretary, Aare Kamoru Ajao Danjuma and immediate past Vice Chairman, Prince Deji Salako. Others are Alhaji Awe, Alhaji Tunde Pharm, Prince Lana Adesida and Otunba John Otubanjo (Otus) to mention a few. Basorun Lamina Ojugbele has been a member of the club in the last 30 years.

Meet Ojugbele’s powerful friends of over 30 years
Some of them have shared one experience or the other with the celebrant but majority of them who are much of his age mates or younger than him stormed the event to celebrate their own in grand style. One of them is Prince Kamal Adeyemi aka Adeyemi Super. This very tall and hefty oil baron who was equally famous for the main fact that Ebenezer Obey did a number on him (Adeyemi nta Super) in the 80s was the cynosure of all eyes. Another of these very powerful friends of Ojugbele is Awe, Osun state born Chief Lai Amoje, he, like Ojugbele & Kamal Adeyemi also have an ever green number with Ebenezer Obey. Chief Ojora Apasa is the next man, who stole the show in a very big way, and Ebenezer Obey took almost an hour plus to honor Ojugbele, Kamal, Amoje and Apasa with old numbers he did on them. This brought fond memories of Ebenezer Obey’s  miliki trend  of the 80s to the crowd of guests.  Both Ojugbele and Kamal Adeyemi are members of the City Star Club which was Ojugbele’s baby with base at Amje-Alakuko. They are the only surviving member of the club.

Chief (Alhaji) Buari Oloto is today widely known as Basorun Lamina Ayinla Ojugble’s protégé because the later mentored the former. However, not much is known about their maternal history but sources alleged that their mothers are members of the same family in Awori land and while Buari’s mum married a Lagosian, Ojugbele’s mum married an Ota-Awori man. Although Buari learnt the rope of land and real estate business from Ojugbele, one unique thing about two of them is the fact that they are both single child of their parents. Although unconfirmed sources has it that, Lamina Ojugbele had two sisters who are now late and he is the only boy child of his late mother but in Buari’s case, he was the only child of his parent. When he arrive the party around 5pm, he stole the show.

Meet the man who eats from same bowl with Ojugbele
With people of his type, you are likely to find people like that who share trust and loyalty and fraternity in larger portion with such a man like Ojugbele. If there is one man who can say it to Lamina Ayinla Ojugbele the way it is and nobody will feel rattled, he is no other person than Alhaji Rasaq Taiwo a retired civil servant and friend of over 25 years with Ojugbele. Sources close to the two say they both see every time and equally eat from the same bowl. Alhaji Rasaq Taiwo is from the famous Taiwo Olowo family of Lagos Island. He is what the Yorubas call “Kori-Kosun” (You can’t see, you can’t sleep) friend of the celebrant. They bonded together at the event and he was the next hand man all through to Ojugbele.

Alhaji M.M. Hassan is another man who is very dear to Chief Lamina Ayinla Ojugbele’s heart and in fact, many describe him as another protégé of the celebrant. The former Auditor General of Lagos (Local Government Affairs) is said to be an Awori son cherished by Baba Ojugbele. He is said to be equally close to present Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as they both worked together under Lagos state government.  Dr. Tajudeen Okoya, younger brother to Eleganza boss, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Okoya is another VIP who graced the occasion and stayed though till the end. There was also Chief Tajudeen Olugbode, Chief Tajudeen Ipaye, Prince Tunde Oloto, Prince Wasiu Ogunsanwo, and Chief Rafiu Ogunsanwo (MD/CEO, Sanwo Foams). Others are Chief Shantao Adele, Asiwaju Rabiu Adio Oluwa a former Island Local Government Chairman and past president of Eko Club and many other dignitaries too many to mention.

His name is Barrister Oladipo Opeseyi (SAN) and he is the current President of Eko Club where the celebration held. He is also a very close confidant of the celebrant Bashorun Lamina Ojugbele as the Basorun is a member of Eko Club.

One big boy who equally stormed the event with two of his pals is the Eldorado Night Club CEO, Bolaji Eso. The very handsome Bolaji Eso was decked in all white attire with his friend, Kayode Idowu husband of Hallero Couture boss, Alero Idowu. Kayode Idowu is also a real estate developer on the Island and his company MC Bolten built Hip-Pop music icon, David Adeleke aka Davido’s Island home.  With them is Mr. Bode Delano of Woltberg Energy Ltd. They are Iyaloja of gutter market, Chief (Mrs.) Risikat Odumosu, First Royal Oil and Gas boss, Princess Rosemary Omolara Osipitan, Jonshland Hotel and Royal Suite boss, Gbagada boss Madam Alake Rotimi Adejonwo Oshun and many too numerous to mention. She also led a team of APC women from Ojokoro to her husband’s 80th birthday bash.
